My final project. And I mean, my FINAL project. Whoa, I can’t believe that was my last photojournalism class. It took a whole lot to get to this point and I’m very happy with how it turned out.

The idea of my project came from my Grandpa. An inspiring man who strongly believes in never forgetting your roots. He is strongly rooted in his heritage and as a result of him, his children, grandchildren, and even his great-grandchild are proud of their 聽culture.

I worked with three dance groups, Ballet Folklorico, Bhangra, and Native American, and documented how dance has preserved their culture. Here are some shots I took of Bhangra Elite and Ballet Folklorico Espiritu Latino, to go with the video! I’m so thankful these dance groups accepted me into their groups. They are so dedicated to dancing and proud of their culture. It was very inspiring to work with each group.

I got an early Christmas present this year and I’m excited! Here are just two sample shots from my new Lensbaby Sweet 35 & Composer Pro. So far, it’s been a blast to shoot with it, so stay on the look out for more shots with it! I’m proud to add it to my lens family! 馃檪

Oh, Annabelle! This little girl, sweet and聽rambunctious, turned two on November 11. This shoot was such a blast and made me realize that in no way, am I in any shape to chase a 2-year-old around a farm. Props to her mommy for chasing her everywhere! She is just such a cutie and such a stinker and FULL of personality! I love this little one! And her pink rocking chair that her mommy painted is fabulous! This little one is my flower girl! 馃檪

Big Jerry plays with the little appetizer forks as his turkey legs flop around his head.

We had a record setting crowd of 29 people at our house for Thanksgiving this year. And while I thought it would keep mom from making her Thanksgiving hats…it didn’t. Instead, we got some awesome turkey legs to wear on our head. We had family and friends, what we call the framily, come out to enjoy the day.

Annabelle loves her Warnie.

Dad and Culley taking out the last turkey from the frier. Nothing beats a fried turkey.

Lumberjack Jerry and Lumberjack Wyatt play on their iPhones. You can find this scene anywhere when you’re with them.

We had fortune crescents, like fortune cookies but with things to be thankful for. Big Jerry ate his on accident and someone was thankful for William Pfau.

Oh my, senior year at Carolina. I did manage to get out to Franklin Street to see the costumes and I was really impressed with some of the thought that went into them. These are my two favorite. Scrabble tiles and the transformer. The tranformer was continuously asked to transform from his upstanding robot costume into a car. I don’t know how he managed to make his costume of even make it down Franklin while constantly transforming, but I can be sure of one thing…I’m sure his thighs hurt at the end of the night.
